Breakout Artist

At Nuvo, all Mini, Junior, Teen and Senior dancers (ages 8–19) that are registered for the full workshop are eligible to participate in the BreakOut Artist Scholarship Audition Class. Dancers must audition by their age as of January 1, 2027. ALL DANCERS MUST BE IN THEIR "AGE APPROPRIATE" ROOM FOR THEIR BALLET CLASS, Breakout Artist AUDITION, and THE PRECEDING AUDITION COMBO CLASS. During the class prior to the audition, students will learn a jazz routine. During the audition, the dancers will be broken up into groups and the Nuvo artists will evaluate. Students will be chosen by the artists in each of the following age groups: Mini (8–10), Junior (11–12), Teen (13–15) and Senior (16–19). The selected students will be announced at the end of the audition; these students will be the "Breakout Artist Finalists!" All Breakout Artist Finalists will be called up on stage at the end of the Closing Show on Sunday afternoon and the winners and remaining runners-up in each age division will be announced. Please note, Nuvo will be taking attendance in classes following the announcement of our Breakout Artist Finalists in each workshop age level. This is to ensure that they are present in classes in the rooms they are finalists in.

Breakout Artist Winners will receive:

  • $300 scholarship to DancerPalooza 2027
  • One Nuvo Tour Scholarship, to be used at any Nuvo regional workshop during the 2026–2027 & 2027–2028 season
  • One Workshop Scholarship to the 2027 Dance Awards!
  • Eligibility to compete in the 2027 Best Dancer Competition at The Dance Awards Las Vegas OR Orlando.

Breakout Artist Runners-Up will receive:

  • $150 scholarship to DancerPalooza 2027
  • One Workshop Scholarship to the 2027 Dance Awards!
  • Eligibility to compete in the 2027 Best Dancer Competition at The Dance Awards Las Vegas OR Orlando.

StandOut Scholarships

In every regional city, each artist will be awarding scholarships to dancers that excel at their particular style in each of their individual classes. This will give students the opportunity to receive scholarships in all disciplines of dance: tap, jazz, lyrical, Hip Hop, ballet, etc. StandOut Scholarships can be awarded to any dancer, ages 8–19, in the Mini, Junior, Teen and Senior workshop levels. The number of scholarship winners may vary depending on convention size and skill level. Dancers are eligible for only one StandOut Scholarship per season. One-day students are not eligible for StandOut Scholarships.

All StandOut Scholarship recipients will receive:

  • $150 scholarship to DancerPalooza 2027
  • Important: Winning a StandOut Scholarship does not make a dancer eligible to compete in the 2027 Best Dancer Competition at The Dance Awards. However, a StandOut Class Scholarship Winner may still audition in other cities to become a Regional BreakOut Artist, thereby making them eligible to compete in the 2027 Best Dancer Competition at The Dance Awards.

Die Hard Dancer Scholarships

In every regional city, each Nuvo artist will choose one dancer as the recipient of their "Die Hard Dancer" scholarship. This dancer may be someone who excels in class, someone who shows a lot of potential, or someone who stands out to the artists for a special reason. The Die Hard Dancer Scholarship recipient can come back to one Nuvo event during the 2027–2028 regional season and participate in the workshop, free of charge! Die Hard Dancer Scholarships can be awarded to any dancer, ages 5–19, in the Nubie, Mini, Junior, Teen and Senior workshop levels. Dancers are eligible for only one Die Hard Dancer Scholarship per season. One-day dancers and Nuvo Breakout Artist Winners are not eligible for Die Hard Dancer Scholarships.

The Fine Print

  • All Nuvo ages are determined as of January 1, 2027. For example, ages for both our November 2026 and April 2027 events are calculated as of January 1, 2027.
  • Dancers' scholarship numbers are generated for each specific age division, with all ages being as of January 1, 2027.
  • Teachers may register dancers for whichever workshop level they feel the dancer will benefit from the most. However, ALL dancers MUST be in the age-appropriate room for the Ballet class + Audition Combo, Breakout Artist Audition Combo Class and the actual Breakout Artist Audition. Any dancers auditioning with the wrong workshop level will not be eligible for Breakout Artist scholarships.
  • When a dancer wins a scholarship with one studio, he/she cannot utilize the scholarship as an "independent" or with another studio, without the permission of the original studio owner.
  • One-day students are not eligible for any scholarships.
  • Independent dancers are unable to receive Breakout Artist scholarships but are eligible for all other scholarships.
  • Dancers ages 20+ are not eligible for any scholarships.
  • All scholarships must be used before the expiration date printed on the scholarship voucher.
  • The Dance Awards Workshop Scholarships may be used for the 2027 Dance Awards ONLY.
  • Scholarships are not transferable.
